RECAP | Women's Soccer Earns Second Straight Clean Sheet on Friday Night

FRANKLIN – The Franklin women's soccer team welcomed the Anderson Ravens to Faught Stadium on Friday (Oct. 25) night for the team's final home match of the regular season.

The Grizzlies (5-7-3, 4-3-1 HCAC) and Ravens (6-7-3, 3-4-1 HCAC) pulled no punches for 90 minutes, with each side battling for the ball from start to finish. In the end, the two league rivals would split the points, settling for a 0-0 draw.

How it Happened
Both defenses limited prime scoring chances for their attacking counterparts until the final 10 minutes of the game when each team had a golden opportunity to go ahead. Anderson's best look came in the 83rd minute on the counter attack that saw Caroline Hill ring a centering pass off the crossbar from in tight.

Franklin saw their best chance of the night come in the 88th minute off a corner, with Maddison Claybrooke getting to the back post and heading a chance that was tipped aside by Anderson keeper Adrienne Weyers. It proved to be the last shot attempt of the night, as the final whistle followed soon after.

Inside the Box Score
-Franklin finished with an 11-8 edge in shot attempts with Anderson holding a 4-3 advantage in shots on target.
-The Grizzlies were a threat in the Anderson end all night, finishing with eight corners to two for the Ravens.
-Sydney Lovett led all players with four shot attempts, with Claybrooke and Amani Kinkaid taking two shots each.
-Makenna Mundy stopped all four shots she faced for her fifth clean of the year and second in a row.

Post-Season Watch
Franklin sits fourth in the conference with 13 league points and can secure a conference tournament berth if Hanover beats Earlham on Saturday (Oct. 26) afternoon. If Earlham wins, the Grizzlies will lock down a post-season spot if they can secure point in their final regular season match.
