ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Franklin College men's cross country team faced off with more than 30 teams on Saturday (Oct. 19) afternoon at the Augustana Interregional Invitational.
Franklin finished the event in 35
th place overall, with senior
John Asplund pacing the team in the 8K race. The Bloomington, Ind.-native hit the finish line in 26:13.9 to take 150
th place overall. Freshman
William Hirsch came in second on the Grizzlies and 280
th overall with his time of 27:19.1.
Junior
Jonah Decker placed third on the Grizzlies with his finishing time of 27:27.4, followed by
Sam Wilson and hit mark of 27:30.2.
Trevor Newby placed fifth on the team with a time of 27:31.7 with
Riley Devening right behind him with a time of 27:51.2.
The Grizzlies are off until Saturday, Nov. 2, when they face off with all comers from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) at the 2024 HCAC Cross Country Championships in Shelbyville, Ind. at Blue River Park. Start time is set for noon.
