CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Franklin women's basketball team hit the road on Wednesday (Jan. 31) night to complete their regular season series with the Mount St. Joseph Lions.
Five Grizzlies (12-8, 7-6 HCAC) finished the night in double figures with both
Taylor Cooney and
Lauryn Bates potting 16 points. But the Grizzlies struggled to stay with the Lions (16-4, 10-3 HCAC) all night, with The Mount winning 91-78.
The Lions raced out to a double digit lead in the first quarter, but a 12-0 Franklin run to open the second quarter pulled the Grizzlies back within a score at 28-25. But the hosts would stretch their lead back to double figures by halftime and keep it in double figures throughout the second half.

-Joining Cooney and Bates in double figures were
Payton Seay with 15 points and a pair of 10-point scorers in
Jordan Coon and
Briley Munchel.
-Franklin shot 45.5% (25-for-55) from the floor, going 2-for-9 from three and 26-for-33 from the free throw line.
-Rebounds were 43-39 in the Lions' favor with Seay's eight boards topping all Franklin players.
-Franklin held the Lions to 40.8% (31-for-76) shooting but the Lions' eight threes in the game made a big difference.
