TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Franklin women's basketball team resumed conference play on Wednesday (Jan. 3) night, taking on the Rose-Hulman Engineers in a big Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) road matchup.
The Grizzlies (9-3, 4-1 HCAC) and Engineers (5-7, 2-3 HCAC) went back-and-forth all night long and came down to the final minute, where the Grizzlies were able to keep te Engineers from the tying basket in the final seconds and hold on for an 82-80 win.Â
Franklin dominated the first quarter but had their lead wiped away by a 15-0 Rose run to open the second period. The Griz rebounded to take the lead back at 44-43 into halftime and got their lead back to as many as seven points in the third quarter. A tense final quarter saw Franklin seal the win with two
Payton Seay free throws in the last seconds, getting Franklin back in the win column.
