RECAP | Griz Battle Asbury to Friday Afternoon Draw

WILMORE, Ky. – The Franklin women's soccer team lined up for game two of a four-game road trip on Friday (Sept. 8) afternoon, taking on the Asbury Eagles.

The two sides played as even of a match as could be, with each side attempting five shots each. But the ball stayed out of both nets on the day, as Franklin (1-1-2) and Asbury (0-1-1) finished in a nil-nil draw.

The first 45 minutes saw the Griz control the flow of play, with Franklin attempting four shots over the first 45 minutes and conceding none. But Franklin would only get two of their five attempts on target before the final horn, with the top chances coming in the 40th minute from Jetta Norris and in the 89th minute off the foot of Amirah Curry.

Makenna Mundy notched her third clean sheet of the young season, stopping the lone Eagles shot on goal in the 84th minute to preserve the draw.

Franklin gets back at it on Sunday (Sept. 10) afternoon, when they head to Louisville, Ky. for a meeting with the Spalding Golden Eagles. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
