RECAP | Claybrooke's Late Equalizer Earns Franklin Draw vs. Anderson

FRANKLIN, Ind. – A goal in the final minute from junior Maddison Claybrooke rescued a critical point for the Franklin women's soccer team in Wednesday's (Sept. 27) conference opener with the Anderson Ravens.

Claybrooke scored with 34 seconds to play in the game to cap a dominant second half from the Grizzlies (1-4-5, 0-0-1 HCAC) and earn the home side a point in a 1-1 draw with the Ravens (3-3-2, 0-0-1 HCAC).

How it Happened
Following a lengthy lightning delay to start the match, the game's opening goal came in the 14th minute on a perfectly placed Anderson shot. More bad weather rolled in before the end of the first half and led to a second delay but the Grizzlies started to tilt the field in their favor before heading into the half down by a goal.

The second half was all Franklin and saw the hosts keep the Ravens without a shot attempt over the final 45 minutes. Lauren Barker had two quality scoring chances early in the second half with each tipped over the bar by the Anderson keeper.

Franklin kept up the pressure until the game's final minute, when Kaitlyn Hewitt tracked down a loose ball and played it up the left wing to Amirah Curry. Curry broke in down the wing and played a centering feed that went by two Anderson defenders to Claybrooke, who tapped the ball between the keeper's legs for the dramatic equalizer.
