ANDERSON, Ind. – The Franklin men's soccer team looked to continue a strong run of form on Wednesday (Sept. 27) afternoon, opening up Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play against the Anderson Ravens.
Senior
Jon Moore had an afternoon to remember, netting his first career hat trick as the Grizzlies (2-5-2, 1-0 HCAC) dominated the Ravens (7-3-1, 0-1 HCAC) all afternoon in a 4-1 victory.
How it Happened
Moore wasted no time putting the away side in front, chipping a shot past Anderson's keeper and just inside the left post at the 3:24 mark for a 1-0 Griz lead. Moore pounced on a mistake for the second Franklin goal, burying a misplayed ball from Anderson's keeper to double Franklin's lead in the 17
th minute.
The senior striker finished off his hat trick in the 51
st minute, bursting through the Anderson back line to grab a loose ball and finish if off with his left foot to give the Grizzlies a 3-0 lead. Anderson pulled a goal back in the 52
nd minute but
Lucas Pereira restored the three-goal lead in the 76
th minute, heading in a
Kalao Ebalo corner for his first career goal.
