NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Franklin women's soccer team closed out non-conference play on Sunday (Sept. 24) afternoon, taking on the Belles of Saint Mary's College.
The Grizzlies (1-4-4) let in a pair of goals early in the second half and spent the rest of the afternoon playing from behind, eventually falling to the Belles (5-3) by a 2-0 score.
Both of the host's goals came within a span of 3:09 midway through the first half and the Belles sat on their lead, holding the Grizzlies to just three shot attempts on the afternoon and no shots on target in the final 45 minutes.
Final attempts were 11-3 in St. Mary's favor with shots on goal a 4-2 edge to the home side.
Makenna Mundy made the start in goal for Franklin, stopping a pair of shots on goal.
Franklin will now turn their attention to conference play, which is set to open on Wednesday (Sept. 27) night. The Grizzlies will host Anderson University, with kick-off from Faught Stadium set for 7:00 p.m.
