LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Franklin men's soccer team wrapped up a two-game road swing on Saturday (Sept. 16) night, taking on the Spalding Golden Eagles.
The Grizzlies (0-5-1) found the back of the net first but were done in by a second half flurry from the Golden Eagles (2-3-1), as Spalding came back to win 4-1.
After a back-and-forth first half that ended scoreless, Franklin grabbed the lead in the 59
th minute when
Eddy Yousak slammed one home from the spot for his second goal of the year. But the lead lasted just a little over four minutes and three Spalding goals in a 12-minute stretch put the game out of reach.
Shots on the night were 17-14 in Spalding's favor with shots on target 9-6 in the host's favor. Yousak had five shot attempts and four shots on target while
Lucas Pereira attempted four shots and
Jon Moore three.
Steven Scott made the first appearance of his career to start the game, making two first half saves.
Easton Terry took over at halftime and stopped three shots in the second half.
Franklin is back at home this coming Wednesday, hosting Wilmington College. Kick-off from Faught Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m.
