FRANKLIN – The Franklin women's basketball team welcomed defending national champion and the country's top-ranked team to the Spurlock Center on Wednesday (Dec. 6), hosting the Transylvania Pioneers.
The Grizzlies (4-2, 1-1 HCAC) put up a fight but the Pioneers (6-0, 2-0 HCAC) pulled away with a dominant second quarter and took the game by a 73-46 count.
How it Happened
The Pioneers raced out to a 12-4 lead in the game's first four minutes, but Franklin battled to get back within one score at 16-13 with 10 minutes played. The second quarter saw Franklin struggle to find the bottom of the net, with the hosts managing just one bucket and heading into the break down 32-16. The second half saw the Pioneers continue to keep the Grizzlies at bay until the final horn sounded.
