RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Franklin men's basketball team resumed a four-game road trip on Saturday (Nov. 25) night, heading to Illinois for a meeting with Dominican University.
The Grizzlies (2-3) raced out to a big halftime lead and would go up by as many as 20 in the second half before holding off a late charge from the Stars (1-3) to win 77-68.
How it Happened
Franklin ripped off an early 7-0 run to take a 7-2 lead into the first media timeout of the game. The Grizzlies wouldn't trail the rest of the night and Franklin's defense played a large role in stretching their lead to 44-29 at the half, holding the Stars to just 34.5% from the field in the opening half and 2-for-10 from long distance.
An 11-1 Franklin run midway through the second half extended the lead to 59-39 with 11:33 to play, but the Stars charged back into the game with a 17-2 run that trimmed the lead to 61-56 with 6:26 to go.
