BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Franklin men's soccer team opened a two-game road trip on Saturday (Oct. 7) afternoon, taking on the Bluffton Beavers.
Senior
Dany Escamilla scored early to put the Grizzlies (3-7-2, 2-2 HCAC) in front, but Franklin was done in by a goal late in each half, giving the Beavers (6-4-1, 2-1-1 HCAC) a 2-1 win.
How it Happened
Escamilla opened the scoring in the 20
th minute, potting his third goal of the year off of a pass from
Jon Moore. Franklin's lead held until the 36
th minute when the Beavers drew even and the two sides headed into the break after a breath-taking first half that saw 19 combined shot attempts.
The second half didn't result in a change of pace, as both sides kept up their attacking strategy. The teams combined for 20 shots over the final half of play, but the winner came in the 85
th minute for Bluffton and Franklin's last gasp at the tying goal missing wide with a
Theo Sasso attempt at the death.
