LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Franklin volleyball team resumed conference play on Friday (Oct. 6) night, taking on defending Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) champion and #15-ranked Transylvania.
The Grizzlies (7-11, 1-1 HCAC) couldn't overcome the powerhouse Pioneers (14-5, 2-0 HCAC), dropping the match in three sets 25-14, 27-25, 25-10.
Transylvania's offense controlled the flow of the game, with the Pios hitting .446 for the match to .130 for the Grizzlies.
Miranda Wilson turned in a strong night on the pins for Franklin, finishing with 13 kills and a team-high .400 attacking percentage.
Sofia Helton led the team with 15 assists followed by 13 helpers from
Brionna Linkel.
Campbell Clark and
Hannah Phegley each finished with a pair of aces while
Alyssa Zemlyak and
Makalyn Miller had two blocks each.
Hope Moring led the back line with 10 digs.
Franklin is off until next Thursday (Oct. 12), when they hit the road for their final non-conference match of the year against St. Mary of the Woods. First serve from Terre Haute is set for 6:00 p.m.
