NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – A pair of first half goals proved to be all the offense the Franklin women's soccer team to earn their first win of the conference schedule.
The Grizzlies (2-5-5, 1-1-1 HCAC) got goals from
Maddison Claybrooke and
Annica Horton in the first half hour of play and held off host Manchester (1-9, 1-2 HCAC) for a 2-1 victory on Wednesday (Oct. 4) night.
How it Happened
Claybrooke broke the ice in the eighth minute when she finished off a
Lauren Barker cross from in close for her second goal of the year. Horton doubled Franklin's lead in the 30
th minute, finishing off a brilliant
Kinsey Price pass for the first goal of her career. The opening 45 minutes was all Grizzlies, as they headed into the break with an 8-0 advantage on the shot chart.
The Spartans cut the lead in half less than a minute into the second half on their first shot attempt of the game, but Franklin's defense kept the Spartans' attack to just two more shot attempts the rest of the afternoon as they closed out the win.
