INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Franklin women's basketball team tipped off the 2023-24 season on Monday (Oct. 30) night in their lone exhibition contest of the year, taking on the Butler Bulldogs in historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The two programs met for the first time since 1988 in a regular season tune-up for both squads.
Georgia Hanauer led Franklin with 10 points and
Brooke Grinstead added eight for the Grizzlies in a 108-41 Butler victory.
The Grizzlies went 15-for-56 from the floor and 4-for-18 from long range. Franklin pulled down 29 rebounds on the night, with
Megan Kain and
CiCi Bailey pulling down five and four boards, respectively, to lead the team.
A total of 18 Grizzlies saw the floor in the contest with eight players making their Franklin debut. Grinstead,

Hannah Stutsman,
Claire Ecenbarger,
Abby Moore and
Kaylee Rhoton logged minutes in the blue and gold for the first time in their careers.
The Grizzlies now turn their attention to the regular season opener, which is set for Wednesday, Nov. 8 against Saint Mary's College. Tip-off from the Spurlock Center is set for 7:00 p.m.
