RECAP | Women's Basketball Drops Mid-Week Matchup at Hanover

HANOVER, Ind. – The Franklin women's basketball team tipped off a three-game road trip on Wednesday (Jan. 11) night, taking on the Hanover Panthers in the first of two meetings between the long-time rivals.

Freshman Jordan Coon had a team-high 15 points and CiCi Bailey recorded her second double-double of the year with 14 points and 12 boards. But shooting struggles plagued the Grizzlies (6-7, 3-3 HCAC) all night, and Hanover (9-4, 6-0 HCAC) pounced to win 71-54.

How it Happened
The opening 3:30 of play saw five lead changes and one tie as the two sides jockeyed for the early upper hand. Hanover used a 10-4 run to close out the period and take a 17-12 lead into the second. Hanover's lead grew to 31-17 at the half, with the Grizzlies netting just two field goals in the second period.

The Grizzlies put together their best offensive period of the night in the third, netting 22 points and getting within as little as seven points late in the period. But the Griz couldn't close the gap any further, and the Panthers closed things out.
