RECAP | Grizzlies Pot Three in Second Half, Blank Belles on Thursday Night

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – A trio of second half goals and some strong play in net led to the second win of the year for the Franklin women's soccer team on Thursday (Sept. 15) night.

The Grizzlies (2-2) got goals from Jaiden Baker, Maddison Claybrooke and Abby Bryant in the final 45 to earn a 3-0 win over St. Mary's College (0-4-2).

Franklin weathered a first half storm from the Belles, as St. Mary's had a 10-1 edge in shots attempts in the opening half. The Grizzlies settled in after halftime and grabbed the lead in the 50th minute when a Baker free kick deflected off a defender and into the top of the net for her third career goal and first of the season.

The 65th minute saw Claybrooke double the lead on a feed off a set piece from Elaina Page that she deposited into the bottom left corner for her first career goal. Franklin fended off a late push from the Belles and capped it with Bryant's first career goal in the 88th minute.
