Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

NEWS | Women's Soccer Drops Season Opener to Trine

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College women's soccer team made their 2022 season debut under the lights on Thursday (Sept. 1) night, hosting the Trine Thunder.

The Grizzlies' (0-1) attack was stifled by the Thunder (1-0) defense all night, with the road side claiming a 2-0 victory and spoiling the Franklin head coaching debut of Jen Jackson.

How it Happened
The two sides played it close to the vest in the early going, with just one combined shot over the first 30 minutes. The ice breaker came in the 42nd minute, when the Thunder got a third chance in close that resulted in the first goal. Trine doubled the lead early in the second half and kept the Franklin comeback attempt in check the rest of the way.

Griz Notes
-Sophomore goalkeeper Makenna Mundy made her second career start and played very well in net, matching a career high with eight saves.
-Three Grizzlies made their career debuts, with freshmen Meghan Moses, Emma Bennett and Abby Bryant donning the blue and gold for the first time.
-Senior Maddie Alexander made her first career start for the Griz at midfield.

Up Next
Franklin head out on the road on Sunday (Sept. 4) for the first time, traveling to Kentucky for a meeting with Berea College. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
