RECAP | Several Program Records Fall for Grizzlies in HCLC Opening Win at Earlham

Box Score

RICHMOND, Ind. – Several program records fell for the Franklin College women's lacrosse team on Saturday (Apr. 9) night when the team faced off with Earlham College in its Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) opener.

The Grizzlies (2-6, 1-0 HCLC) set a new single-game program record for goals and two of the team's top attackers etched their names in the program record book as part of a 20-4 win over the Quakers (1-8, 0-1 HCLC).

Sophomore attacker Baleigh Riddle became the first player in program history to reach double-digit goals with 10 in the game, which also matched the program record for points in a single contest. Junior attacker Victoria Simmons potted a career-high nine points, handing out a program record seven assists on the afternoon.

How it Happened
The Grizzlies wasted little time getting on the board with Riddle and Lora Adkins finding the back of the net in the game's first five minutes. Franklin controlled possession and headed into the second quarter leading 7-0. The Quakers potted two quick goals to start the second, but Franklin took control back by scoring seven of the next goals to take a 14-3 lead into the half and set their sights on breaking some records in the second half.

Riddle surpassed the former record for goals in a game with 8:52 to go in the third when she netted her eighth to break Lexi Ingram's old mark of seven in a game. Riddle would also give Franklin their final goal of the day with 7:09 to go, giving FC the program's first 20-goal contest.
