It's the final season for the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference, but Franklin's
Addie Whitman is among the cream of the final crop.
The junior was named to the All-HCLC first team on Tuesday after scoring a team-high 30 goals on the season. A native of Franklin, Indiana, Whitman also led the Grizzlies with 43 ground balls, 38 draw controls and 21 turnovers caused.Â
Two other players, senior
Maddie Cary and junior
Claire Ecenbarger, were named to the second team.
Cary, a team captain from Chesterton, Indiana, scooped 17 ground balls and caused 14 turnovers. She also scored her first career goal in the season finale against Hanover. Ecenbarger, a native of Mulberry, Indiana, finished the season with 12 goals and eight assists as well as 19 draw controls and 17 ground balls.
Whitman and Ecenbarger will be back next spring to help Franklin transition into the Ohio Athletic Conference, which is accepting the Grizzlies and fellow HCLC members Hanover, Spalding and Transylvania as affiliate members.
