Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College women's lacrosse team notched their first win of the 2022 campaign in thrilling fashion with a win over Elmhurst on Saturday (Mar. 5) morning at Faught Stadium.
The Grizzlies (1-2) shook off a slow start and put together a strong second half against the Blue Jays (0-3) to get in the win column. The home side capped the comeback win in dramatic fashion, stuffing a last-minute comeback from the Jays.
How it Happened
Early on, it was all Blue Jays as Elmhurst netted the game's first four goals in the opening 5:05 of play. Baleigh Riddle and Victoria Simmons halted the run with two goals to close out the first quarter and cut the lead in half. The Blue Jays ran their lead back to four with back-to-back goals to open the second quarter. Sydney Briggs and Riddle netted goals closer to halftime, cutting the Elmhurst lead to 7-4 with 30 minutes in the books.
Franklin dominated play in the third quarter, out-scoring Elmhurst 4-1 with Riddle netting three in the period and Mia Turnbaugh getting on the board to tie things at 8-8 with one quarter to go. The Grizzlies opened the final quarter with a 4-1 run but had to hold off the Blue Jays in the final minutes to seal the win.

-Riddle turned in a dominant performance on the attack, finishing with career-highs in goals (five), shots (11) and shots on goal (eight).
-Simmons netted three goals and added a pair of assists, scoring on all three of her shot attempts.
-Sophomore Riley Rice earned her first career win in goal, stopping eight shots on the night.
