RECAP | Grizzly Bench Drives Scoring, Franklin Grabs OT Road Win at Mount St. Joseph

Box Score

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Franklin College women's basketball team got a massive night from their bench to hold off the Mount St. Joseph Lions in overtime on Tuesday (Feb. 15) night.

Freshman Jasmine Walker netted a career-high 17 points to lead Franklin (8-14, 6-9 HCAC) in scoring and pace a group of Franklin reserves that scored 55 points on the night. The Grizzlies held off a late push from the Lions (7-14, 4-10 HCAC), opening overtime with a 10-0 run on their way to a 77-69 win.

How it Happened
The Grizzlies shot out of the gate with a 13-2 run that spanned the opening 7:26 of game action. A Bayleigh Torrance three late in the first quarter gave the Grizzlies an 18-9 lead after 10 minutes. Period two saw Franklin run their lead to a game-high 17 points and the Grizzlies had things under control at the break with a 38-26 lead.

The home side began to make their push early in the third quarter, starting off the second half with a 10-3 run to cut the FC lead to 41-36. The Grizzlies kept the Lions at bay through the rest of the quarter, and held a 53-46 lead with one quarter to go. A CiCi Bailey layup with 5:06 to play gave the Grizzlies a 63-48 lead, but Franklin's offense dried up the rest of regulation and the Lions buried a three with 10 seconds left to tie the game at 64, capping a 16-1 run and sending the game to overtime.

The Grizzlies shook off the shock and took the lead back for good with a Destinee Cross bucket on the first possession of OT. Franklin went 4-for-5 from the floor and connected on five free throws in the extra session to put the Lions away.
