RECAP | Women's Swimming & Diving Wins 50th Straight Dual, Topping Wheaton on Saturday

WHEATON, Ill.  – The Franklin women's swimming and diving team took part in their first dual competition of the season on Saturday (Nov. 5) afternoon, taking on the Wheaton Thunder.
 
The Grizzly women claimed first place in 11 of the day's 16 events to win 163-127 and collect the program's 50th straight win in head-to-head competition.
 
Two Grizzlies dominated in three separate events with Caileigh McCafferty and Samantha Phillips collecting a trio of first place finishes each. McCafferty started out the day with a win in the 100 backstroke (1:02.55) and followed it up by besting the field in the 200 backstroke (2:15.13) and the 200 IM (2:13.71).
 
Phillips opened her afternoon by taking a win in the 100 freestyle in 2:01.73 before moving to the 200 butterfly where she grabbed the top spot in 2:16.08. Phillips finished off the day by winning the 500 freestyle in 5:25.80 and is now the top swimmer in the league in all three events she competed in on Saturday.
 
Junior Regan Hendricks picked up a iwn in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:14.61. Erin Perkins led off the afternoon by winning the 1000 freestyle in 11:21.13. Freshman Jyllian Antle earned her first career event victory in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.01.
 
On the diving boards, senior Faith Jackson hit her first NCAA regional qualifying score, winning both diving events with 254.30 points on the one-meter board and 268.25 points on the three-meter board. Teammates Carley Bond and Kamryn Elder each placed second and third in both diving events.
 
The Grizzlies continue dual competition on Friday (Nov. 11) night, when they host the Transylvania Pioneers at Franklin Middle School. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
