FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin women's soccer team wrapped up a three-match homestand and kicked off homecoming weekend festivities on Friday (Oct. 7) night, taking on the Mount St. Joseph Lions on a chilly night at Faught Stadium.
Facing off against one of the league's top teams, the Grizzlies (2-8-1, 0-3-1 HCAC) kept a powerful Lion (7-5-2, 3-0-1 HCAC) offense in check for most of the night. But an early MSJ goal would be all the guests needed, with The Mount grabbing a 1-0 win.
The Lions netted the game's lone goal in the seventh minute and kept the Grizzlies to just two shot attempts in the match. The most dangerous of those came late in the game when a loose ball just outside the box found its way to
Katelyn Duff, but her shot attempt sailed just over the crossbar as she attempted to get the ball over the Lion defense.
Makenna Mundy stopped five shots in goal for Franklin. Duff and
Elaina Page each had shot attempts for the Grizzlies.
