Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College volleyball team continued a five-game homestand with the start of their home invitational on Friday (Sept. 24) night, taking on the Fontbonne Griffins.
The host Grizzlies (8-6) jumped out to a two-set lead before the Griffins (1-5) dug deep to even things up and send the match to a deciding set. In the final game, Franklin put an emphatic stamp on their fourth straight victory to win 25-23, 25-18, 24-26, 20-25, 15-6.
How it Happened
An evenly matched first game appeared to tilt in the Griffins' favor with Fontbonne holding an 18-13 lead before the Grizzlies made their move. Franklin took 10 of the next 13 points and closed out the comeback by forcing a Fontbonne attacking error to take a one-set lead. Set two saw the Grizzlies lead from wire-to-wire, with the team hitting .400 in the game to stretch their lead.
Fontbonne refused to go away and dug in to take the next two sets, setting up the deciding game. After falling behind early, Franklin dominated the fifth set and closed out the win by taking the final seven points.

-Franklin's offense hit .170 for the night while limiting the Griffins to .132 from the floor. A pair of Franklin attackers matched their jersey number in kills with Miranda Wilson notching 20 and Sara Allen putting down a career-high 19 kills.
-Billie Jarrett collected her ninth double-double of the year, handing out 52 assists and digging up a team-high 22 balls. The Speedway, Ind.-native added a trio of kills and one ace on the night as well.
-Sophomore Chloe Holder matched a season-high with 10 kills and led all FC blockers with three rejections.
-Allison Thompson chipped in with 17 digs on the back line and Makalyn Miller added 10 digs to the FC defense. Morgan Curtis led all players with three aces.

The Grizzlies continue their home invitational with two more matches on tap on Saturday (Sept. 25). Franklin will face Baldwin Wallace at noon and close out the weekend with a matchup against Bethany (W.V.) at 2:00 p.m.
