Box Score ANDERSON, Ind. – The Franklin College women's lacrosse team packed their bags and traveled north on Wednesday (Apr. 7) evening for a matchup with the Anderson Ravens.
Senior Abbey Voss and freshman Bayleigh Riddle each netted a career-high four goals for the Grizzlies (0-5) and Anya Glodowski had a four-point night to help lead the FC offense. Franklin put a scare into the Ravens (3-2) late but fell short in a 16-13 loss.
How it Happened
Anderson rolled out to a 7-2 lead but Franklin would start to get their offense going late in the first half thanks to two Voss goals and a Sydney Briggs tally in the final seven minutes of the period that cut the Anderson lead to 10-5 at the break.
Riddle's second goal of the day less than three minutes into the second half brought the Grizzlies within four, but Anderson opened their lead back up with the game's next three goals. Glodowski, Briggs and Voss netted Franklin a 3-0 run that got the visitors within 13-9 with 13 minutes to play.
Three more Raven goals followed, restoring a seven-goal margin. Voss, Riddle and Victoria Simmons would all find the back of the net in the final six minutes, but Franklin's comeback bid would run out of time.
Shots were 37-26 in Anderson's favor with Riddle's seven attempts leading the Grizzlies. Courtney Jones had 12 saves in goal for Franklin and Voss set a new career high with 10 draw controls.
Franklin won't have to wait long for a rematch, as they host the Ravens next Wednesday (Apr. 14) at 6:00 p.m.
