Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – For the first time in more than a month, the Franklin College women's lacrosse team stepped onto the turf at Faught Stadium for a home contest, hosting the Hanover Panthers in the team's Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) opener.
Sophomore Victoria Simmons set a career-high with five points coming on two goals and three assists. Bayleigh Riddle and Anya Glodowski also had multi-point games but the Grizzlies (0-4) dropped their matchup with the Panthers (1-3) by an 18-8 count.
How it Happened
Franklin opened the scoring with Sydney Briggs and Simmons scoring a few minutes apart to make it 2-0 just a little more than five minutes in. The Panthers countered with two goals of their own but goals less than two minutes apart from Haley Ash and Abbey Voss gave the Grizzlies a 4-3 lead with 19:03 to go in the half.
Hanover rattled off four straight tallies, but the Grizzlies closed out the half with markers from Riddle and Bella Frye that cut the deficit to 7-6 when the two side broke for halftime.
Simmons and Riddle each scored their second of the day early in the second half, but Franklin would go scoreless over the final 21:54 of the contest.
Inside the Box Score
-Simmons set a new career-high with three helpers and recorded her second career multi-goal game.
-Frye netted the first goal of her FC career with a free position tally and led the team with five ground balls.
-Glodowski was the only other Grizzly to record multiple assists, handing out a pair of helpers.
-Senior Courtney Jones finished with 14 saves in goal for Franklin.
