Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin women's lacrosse team hit the Faught Stadium turf on a chilly Saturday (Feb. 29) afternoon, taking on Heidelberg University in the final of two straight home games to open the year.
The Grizzlies (0-2) were unable to overcome the Student Princes' (2-0) early offensive barrage, as Heidelberg left town with a 19-2 win.
After controlling the ball for the first few minutes of action, Franklin fell behind thanks to a quick-strike Heidelberg offense that potted three goals over a five-minute span. After one half of play, The Berg held a 12-0 lead.
Franklin got on the board with 21:52 to play when Abbey Voss emerged from behind the net and bounced a shot into the net on the short side for her first goal of the year. Freshman Anya Glodowski closed the scoring late in the game, sending a shot from the right wing into the top left corner for her second tally of the year.
Glodowski led the Grizzlies with six shots on goal, four ground balls, four draw controls and a pair of turnovers forced. Voss and Haley Ash each had three draw controls each and Voss finished second on the team with three shot attempts. In goal, Courtney Jones finished with 16 saves.
Franklin hits the road for the first time for their next contest, heading north to take on the Benedictine Eagles. Start time is set for 5:00 p.m.
