Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin women's lacrosse team opened the 2020 campaign on Saturday (Feb. 22) afternoon, hosting Concordia Chicago in the first of two straight games at Franklin's Faught Stadium.
The Grizzlies (0-1) got goals from newcomers Victoria Simmons and Anya Glodowski, but it wasn't enough to overcome an early barrage from the Cougars (1-0), who went on to claim a 16-2 win.
The opening half saw Concordia take control with three goals in the first six minutes and never looking back. Simmons netted her first career goal just 4:16 into the second half when she scored on a free-position shot. Glodowski followed suit late in the game, burying her first career tally from the free position marker.
Fellow freshman Lora Adkins led the team with four ground balls with Abbey Voss scooping up three loose balls of her own. Adkins, Madeleine Correll and Devyn Kerr forced two turnovers each and Courtney Jones made nine stops in goal for Franklin.
The Grizzlies will look for their first win of the year next Saturday (Feb. 29), when they host Heidelberg University. The opening draw is set for 1:00 p.m.
