FRANKLIN, Ind. – For the first time in more than a month, the Franklin College women's lacrosse team stepped onto the turf at Faught Stadium, hosting Hanover College in the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) contest of the year.

The Grizzlies (0-4, 0-1 HCLC) fell victim to a potent Panther (4-7, 1-1 HCLC) offense as Hanover left town with a 23-4 victory. Junior Sam Collier potted a pair of goals for Franklin on the afternoon with seniors Brooke Hughes and Shelbi Hunter also finding the back of the net.

Both side played a tight, defensive contest in the opening, with just two Hanover goals coming in the game's opening nine minutes. But Hanover would open things up, scoring four times over a span of three minutes. The Panthers' run came to an end when Shelbi Hunter put Franklin on the board with a free-position goal with 16:47 on the clock.

Hughes and Collier added goals for Franklin late in the first half, but Hanover headed into the break holding a 12-3 lead. Collier netted her second goal of the day late in the second half, capping the scoring for Franklin.

Collier topped the Franklin attack with three shots on goal. Kara Hawkins topped the Grizzlies with four draw controls and added her first assist of the season on Collier's second goal. In goal, Courtney Jones turned aside 15 Panther shots and led all Franklin players with three ground balls.

Franklin continues conference play on Wednesday (Apr. 10) night, heading north for a meeting with the Anderson Ravens. The opening draw is set for 6:00 p.m.
