FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin women's lacrosse team stepped onto the surface at Faught Stadium for the final time this season on Saturday (Apr. 20), taking on Earlham College in a rain-soaked Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) meeting.

The Grizzlies (1-7, 1-4 HCLC) fell victim to an overpowering Quaker (10-4, 4-0 HCLC) offense, dropping the game 19-2. Earlham potted the first goal of the game just 34 seconds in and opened up a 4-0 lead before Haley Ash found a streaking Brooke Hughes in the Earlham zone and the senior captain popped a shot into the back of the net for her 15th goal of the season.

Hughes netted her second goal of the contest with one minute left in the opening half, taking a long pass from goalkeeper Courtney Jones and firing a shot into the back of the cage. But that proved to be the final tally of the game for the hosts, as Earlham was able to sit on the lead for the entirety of the final 30 minutes.

Hughes led the Grizzlies in shot attempts and tied with Abbey Voss and Emily Roberts for the most ground balls with four each. Defensively, Voss topped the team with four forced turnovers while Hughes caused three Quaker miscues. Courtney Jones was busy in goal for the Grizzlies, stopping 14 Earlham while facing 40 attempts on the afternoon.

Franklin closes out their regular season schedule on Wednesday (Apr. 24) night, heading to Cincinnati, Ohio for a meeting with the Mount St. Joseph Lions. The opening draw is set for 7:00 p.m.
