RECAP | Pioneers Clip Grizzlies in ORLC Showdown

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College women's lacrosse team jumped back into Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) play on Saturday afternoon, welcoming the conference-leading Transylvania Pioneers to Faught Stadium.

The Grizzlies (1-3, 1-2 ORLC) fell victim to an easy onslaught from the Pioneer (9-1, 4-0 ORLC) offense, as Transy potted four goals in the opening three minutes. The guests expanded on their lead throughout the first half en route to a 24-2 win.

Franklin got on the board late in the first half, when Jess Silva found the back of the net. Silva would add a second goal early in the second half on a free position shot, capping the scoring for the Grizzlies. Silva led all Grizzlies with three shot attempts, all of which were on goal.

Ground balls were22-10 in favor of the Pioneers. Morgan McIntosh led the Grizzlies with three ground balls recorded. Silva and Courtney Jones scooped up a pair of ground balls each. Abby Stayer led Franklin with five draw controls while McIntosh had three controls. In goal, Courtney Jones (1-1) made 10 saves for the Grizzlies.

Franklin hits the road for their next contest on Wednesday, Apr. 4. The Grizzlies will travel to Crestview Hills, Ky. for an ORLC showdown with Thomas More College. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m.
