Box Score Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's lacrosse team scored the first eight goals of the match and did not look back in picking up a 14-2 victory over Trine University on Saturday afternoon at Faught Stadium.
The Grizzlies (2-1) got on the scoreboard in the second minute of the contest on an unassisted goal by junior Hannah Grow (Morton, Ill./Morton). Senior Carley Campbell (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) gave Franklin a 2-0 advantage with 25:07 remaining in the first half. Senior Presleigh Hobbs (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) set up the scoring chance.
Later, Campbell found the back of the net at the 19:40 mark to give the hosts a 5-0 lead.
The Grizzlies led 8-2 after the 30-minute first half. Campbell scored her third goal of the match in the opening minute of the second half. Freshman Brooke Hughes (Rossville, Ind./Rossville) tallied her first collegiate goal with 17:29 left in the contest to extend the lead to eight goals, 10-2.
Senior Paige Clark (Jefferson, Ohio/Jefferson Area) scored consecutive goals in the last 10 minutes of the match. The Grizzlies added two more goals to secure the victory.
Four Franklin players scored multiple goals, including hat tricks by Campbell, Grow, and Hobbs. Junior Lexi Ingram (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) and Clark each added two goals. Clark and Hobbs each recorded two assists in the victory.
The Grizzlies held a 26-10 shot advantage for the match, including 16 shots on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Kayanna Wolter (Greensburg, Ind./Greensburg) made four saves and allowed a career-best two goals. Senior Megan Rhotan (Blackford, Ind./Hartford City) had a match-high four ground balls. Ingram registered three ground balls in the victory.
Franklin returns to action on Sunday, March 20, at noon against Baldwin Wallace University at Faught Stadium. Live video and statistics of the match will be available.
