Box Score Columbus, Ohio - The Franklin College women's lacrosse team played its first match at the NCAA Division III ranks, losing to Great Lakes Region Capital University 19-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The Grizzlies scored once in each half. Sophomore Hannah Grow (Morton, Ill./Morton) found the back of the net in the final minute of the first half. It marked the first goal scored in program history. Grow attempted a team-high three shots.
Junior Paige Clark (Jefferson, Ohio/Jefferson Area) capped Franklin's scoring with a goal with three minutes left in the match.
Capital (2-0) led 14-1 after the first 30 minutes of the match. The Grizzlies held the Crusaders to five goals during the second 30-minute period.
Sophomore Kayanna Wolter (Greensburg, Ind./Greensburg) made six saves in goal.
Freshman Cali Wetli (Lagoda, Ind./South Montgomery) attempted two shots and sophomore Lexi Ingram (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) added one shot in the season-opening match.
Franklin returns to action when it travels to Washington & Jefferson College on Sunday, March 8, at noon. The match is the team's Ohio River Lacrosse Conference opener. Live statistics of the match will be available HERE.
