Franklin, Ind. - Six different players found the back of the net as the Franklin College women's lacrosse team earned a 13-7 victory over Hanover College in Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) action on Tuesday evening from Faught Stadium. The Grizzlies have won two of their last three matches, averaging 15 goals in the victories.
Franklin (2-5, 2-3 ORLC) jumped out to an 8-1 lead at halftime. The lead grew to nine goals on two occasions in the second half.
Sophomore Hannah Grow (Morton, Ill./Morton) led the offensive attack with four goals. Junior Paige Clark (Jefferson, Ohio/Jefferson Area) added three goals along with winning three draws, picking up four ground balls, and causing four turnovers. Sophomore Lexi Ingram (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) also scored three goals and won two draws.
Senior Torie Zeiner (Clayton, Ind./Cascade) found the back of the net in the second half and recorded a match-high two assists. Classmate Audrey Wilson (Tipton, Ind./Tipton) and freshman Abby Stayer (Dayton, Ohio/Chaminade Julieene Catholic) rounded out the scoring attack each with one goal.
Defensively, junior Emily Erlenbaugh (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) tied for match-high honors with four caused turnovers. Junior Megan Rhotan (Blackford, Ind./Hartford City) picked up two ground balls and freshman Morgan McIntosh (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) secured three ground ball pickups in the victory.
Franklin jumped out to a 6-0 lead 20 minutes into the match. Ingram helped the early scoring with two goals. Ingram's third goal of the first half came midway through the period off a pass from Grow.
In the second half, goals by Clark and Zeiner extended Franklin's lead to 10-1 with 23 minutes left in the match. The team traded goals the rest of the way.
Franklin returns to action on Thursday, March 26 at 7 p.m. when it travels to Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.
