Franklin, Ind. - It was a historic day for the Franklin College women's lacrosse team, winning the first match in program history. The Grizzlies defeated Thomas More College 17-9 in Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) action on Saturday afternoon from Faught Stadium.
Franklin (1-4, 1-2 ORLC) jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first 10 minutes of the match. Two goals each by sophomore Lexi Ingram (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) and junior Paige Clark (Jefferson, Ohio/Jefferson Area) helped the early offensive attack.
The Grizzlies held an 11-4 advantage after the opening 30 minutes. The hosts maintained the lead by scoring four of the first five goals in the second half to take a 15-5 lead.
Offensively, Ingram tied for match-high honors with five goals. She also caused four turnovers and picked up two ground balls. Clark added four goals and won three draws.
Sophomore Hannah Grow (Morton, Ill./Morton) also found the back of the net four times and helped win three draws. Grow also picked up two ground balls to help maintain possession.
Junior Presleigh Hobbs (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) won three draws and scored one goal. Seniors Audrey Wilson (Tipton, Ind./Tipton), Torie Zeiner (Clayton, Ind./Cascade), and freshman Serena Stincic-Perez (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) rounded out the scoring attack with one goal.
In net, sophomore Kayanna Wolter (Greensburg, Ind./Greensburg) made a career-high 13 saves and had two successful clear attempts. Freshman Morgan McIntosh (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) had a match-high five caused turnovers.
Thomas More (0-3, 0-2 ORLC) was led by Tori Liles with five goals.
