Football Continues HCAC Action at Earlham

Game Notes

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College football team seeks to continue its winning ways in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) with a game at Earlham College on Saturday, October 10, at 2:30 p.m. in Richmond, Indiana.

The Grizzlies have won their first three league games, including shutouts against Manchester University (42-0 at home last Saturday) and Anderson University (56-0 on September 19). The team also defeated Bluffton (49-31) on the road on September 26.

Sophomore quarterback Chase Burton (Corydon, Ind./Corydon) was named the HCAC's Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after a career-high performance against Manchester. He threw for 413 yards and accounted for five touchdowns. Burton ranks in the top 10 nationally among NCAA Division III players in three statistical categories: passing yards (second, 1,604), points responsible for (fifth, 108), and completions per game (eighth, 28.8).

Eleven different receivers have caught passes for Franklin this fall. Sophomore wingback Lee Wroblewski (Salem, Ind./Paoli) leads this balanced pass-catching unit with 311 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He has hauled in a team-high 29 passes this fall.

Senior split end Mason Deal (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) has also caught three touchdown passes. He ranks second on the team with 23 receptions for 229 yards. Deal caught six passes for 141 yards against Manchester last Saturday.

On defense, junior Taylor Christensen (Fishers, Ind./ Hamilton Southeastern) was named to the D3football.com Player of the Week after having a pass interception, four pass breakups, and four tackles in last Saturday's shutout performance.
