Football Extends HCAC Winning Streak to 30 Games with 67-7 Victory over Anderson

Franklin, Ind. - The No. 14-ranked Franklin College football team scored 35 first-quarter points and amassed 602 yards in total offense for a 67-7 victory over Anderson University on Community Day on Saturday at Faught Stadium. The Grizzlies have now won 30 consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference games – the third longest streak in NCAA Division III.

Franklin (4-2, 4-0 HCAC) amassed 376 passing yards and 226 yards on the ground in the home victory. Junior tight end Dylan Jenney (Floyd Knobs, Ind./Floyd Knobs) caught two touchdowns from senior quarterback Jonny West (Speedway, Ind./Speedway) in the opening minutes of the contest. The second touchdown gave the hosts a 21-0 lead. Senior Scott Moore (Kingman, Ind./Fountain Central) returned an interception 63 yards for a score on Anderson's first drive of the game.

West hooked up with junior wingback Zach Cole (Middletown, Ind./Shenandoah) for a seven-yard touchdown reception, and senior running back Joey Pasquale (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) had a two-yard rushing touchdown to cap the 35-point first-quarter barrage.

The Grizzlies continued the aerial attack with a 46-yard touchdown pass from West to freshman receiver Zay Thornton (Ocala, Fla./Vanguard) with 13:44 left in the first half.

Franklin led 51-0 at the half and scored 16 points in the third quarter. Freshman Kole Stogner (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) caught a 44-yard pass from freshman A.J. Puente (Delray Beach, Fla./Boca Christian). Senior Mike Wood (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) converted his second field goal of the contest, making a 28-yard attempt midway through the period. Freshman Kendal Butler (Toledo, Ill./Cumberland) scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 15-yard rush. The score gave Franklin a 67-0 lead after three quarters of play.

Offensively, West ended the afternoon throwing for four touchdowns and 257 yards. The senior leads all Division III quarterbacks with 25 touchdowns on the season. Cole had a game-high six receptions, while senior Kyle Linville (Speedway, Ind./Speedway), Thornton and Jenney each recorded three catches.

Butler led a balanced rushing attack with 48 yards and a score. Sophomore quarterback Mason Deal (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) gained 42 yards and Stogner added 40 yards rushing.

Defensively, sophomore Jeremiah Windell (Corydon, Ind./Corydon Central) led the team with nine tackles. Senior Colin Gallagher (Valparaiso, Ind./Wheeler) recorded six stops and recovered a fumble.

Franklin returns to action on Saturday, October 26 at 1:30 p.m. when it travels to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Both teams are 4-0 in HCAC action so far this fall.
