Heading into Wednesday night, Franklin men's soccer hadn't lost a match by more than one goal.
Millikin wasn't nearly as forgiving, pulling away in the second half for a 6-0 victory at Faught Stadium.
The Grizzlies (0-6-2) limited the Big Blue to a pair of goals midway through the first half, holding the fort for the final 24-plus minutes of the period. Franklin got a shot on goal from
Lane Trump in the 40th minute but was unable to crack the Millikin defense.
After halftime,
Ulises Rivera put a shot on goal in the 56th minute to try getting the Grizzlies back within one, but his effort was turned away and Millikin scored at the other end moments later to take a 3-0 lead. The Big Blue later added three more goals in a 5:34 span to put the match away and trigger a running clock.
Austin White made five saves in a losing effort for Franklin, which will be at home again Saturday afternoon (3:30 p.m.) for its HCAC opener against Hanover.
