After a week full of clean sweeps, perhaps it was only fitting that Franklin women's volleyball picked up another when it came time for the HCAC's weekly awards.

Sophomore Leah Middleton and junior Mireily Colomba were named the league's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week on Monday after leading the Grizzlies to five consecutive three-set victories.

Middleton, an outside hitter from Pittsboro, Indiana, was consistently excellent during the week, totaling 47 kills, 34 digs and six service aces across 15 sets of action. The sophomore had at least eight kills in each match, with a team-high 11 against both Blackburn and Alma on Friday, averaging 3.13 kills per set on a .306 hitting percentage. She added three eight-dig matches and added a career-high four blocks in a win over Alma.

Colomba, a middle blocker from San Juan, Puerto Rico, had the best week of her collegiate career. She amassed 23 blocks in just 15 sets, setting a career high with seven against Spalding and then matching that with seven more (four solos) against Eureka. Colomba also had 19 kills on the week, including a career-best nine on just 12 swings against Alma.

Now winners of eight straight overall, Franklin (8-1) is on the road against Spalding on Wednesday before heading to Illinois for three more matches over the weekend.
