After a two-day Easter break, Franklin baseball headed to Manchester on Monday afternoon for the rubber game of their three-game series. The Grizzlies staged a late comeback bid but wound up on the losing end of a 10-6 score.
The host Spartans grabbed a 4-0 lead before the Grizzlies (13-11, 4-6 HCAC) got on the board in the top of the fifth inning.
Ian Nuckles scored on a
Dyllan Redmon sacrifice fly and
Garrett DeHart came home on a Manchester error, cutting the deficit in half.
Franklin fell behind by five before plating a pair of runs in the eighth on an RBI single by Nuckles and a sac fly by DeHart. After the Spartans countered with three runs in the bottom of the frame to go up 10-4, the Grizzlies punched back in the ninth when
Josh Girvan hit an RBI double and scored on a
Drew Helton base hit. The visitors were unable, however, to cut any deeper into the Manchester lead.
Girvan, Helton and Nuckles each had a pair of hits for Franklin, which will try to rebound with a Tuesday afternoon home game against Spalding. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
