After a busy week that included a draining home win, Franklin men's volleyball had to dig deep for enough energy to get through a pair of Saturday road matches.
Though the trip resulted in two losses, Griz coach
Dillon Taylor found plenty of positives.
"It was matches four and five on the week, and you could tell at times," he said. "(But) we did some really good things against good teams."
The Grizzlies (5-16) opened with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-18 setback against Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The team struggled to get much going offensively, registering just 20 kills on .034 hitting, but
Demetric George provided some punch with nine of those kills.
In the nightcap, Franklin battled with host Adrian but came out on the short end of a 25-14, 25-23, 25-18 score. The best shot for the Griz came in the second set, when they led 18-14 and 23-22 before the home squad scored the last three points.
Kevin Braxton led the Grizzlies in the second match with 12 kills off the bench, with
Jonathan McCoy adding nine and a team-high eight digs.
"We always know we are going to get energy when Kevin comes on the court," Taylor said, "so it was great to see him take advantage of that run today."
Franklin returns to the Spurlock Center this coming week for matches against Spalding (March 18) and Wabash (March 20).
