Kat Lundy, Kaleigh Schuler Named HCAC Swimmer, Diver of the Week

If the HCAC had physical trophies for its weekly women's swimming and diving awards, the league could pretty safely just keep the hardware at Franklin and let them pass from teammate to teammate.

This Tuesday, Griz junior Kat Lundy claimed her third Swimmer of the Week honor of the season, while senior Kaleigh Schuler was named Diver of the Week for the second time this winter.

With the exception of weeks in which they did not have a meet, the Grizzly women have taken every diving award and all but one in swimming.

Lundy had a pair of individual victories in Franklin's 210-77 rout of Rose-Hulman over the weekend, taking the 100-yard backstroke in 58.97 seconds and the 200 individual medley in 2:15.64. She was also second to teammate Petal Sloan in the 100 freestyle, clocking a 56.77, and led off the winning 200 medley relay, teaming with Avery Tomlinson, Celeste Hollis and Landi Newcomb to win in 1:52.52.

Schuler won both 1-meter diving events at the meet, twice outdueling teammate Alexis Fleming. She earned a narrow victory in the first round, edging Fleming by a 168.50 to 166.20 margin, and then followed up with a similarly tight win (232.75 to 230.35) the second time around.

Franklin concludes its regular-season schedule this Saturday afternoon (1 p.m.) with a Senior Day meet against visiting Bluffton.
