DePauw didn't give Franklin any time to get comfortable after the Grizzlies stepped off the bus on Wednesday night.
An early onslaught by the Tigers quickly put the Grizzlies on their heels and set the tone for a 6-0 defeat.
The home side went on the attack right away, getting four corner kicks in the first five minutes of action. That constant pressure soon led to a goal, as Joey Black got one past Franklin goalie
Graham Klein just 5:15 into the match. Two more goals — both assisted by Black — followed before the 10-minute mark, putting the Grizzlies (0-2) into a quick 3-0 hole.
The Tigers went into the half with a 4-0 cushion, having outshot the Grizzlies by a 13-2 spread.Â
Sami Ahmed scored for DePauw (1-1-1) just over two minutes into the second half, and Franklin yielded one more score in the 73rd minute. The Tigers ended the evening with a 23-4 advantage in shots and a 15-1 margin in corner kicks; the Grizzlies did not manage a shot on goal.
Klein made four saves in 75-plus minutes of action.
The Grizzlies continue their season-opening road swing on Saturday when they travel to Eureka for a 2 p.m. matchup. They'll play their home opener on Monday, Sept. 8 against Hope.
