Josh Hughes had a lot of positive memories during his time at Hanover as a player and assistant coach.
His first trip back there as Franklin's head coach won't rank among them, as the Grizzlies came away with a 6-0 loss in their first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match of the season.
Franklin (1-8, 0-1 HCAC) gave up a pair of Patricio Campos goals just 61 seconds apart early in the first half and never recovered. The Panthers stretched their lead to 4-0 by halftime and added two more goals in the 62nd minute of play to pad that margin.
Jaime Silva made four saves and
Graham Klein two for the Grizzlies, who got their lone shot attempt from
Ali Almolhem in the first half. Franklin did have four corner kicks after the intermission but could not convert any of those set pieces into a goal.
The Grizzlies host Mount St. Joseph in conference play next Saturday (Oct. 4) at Faught Stadium.
