Scoreless in its previous three matches, Franklin women's soccer ended its offensive drought on Wednesday night. It just wasn't enough to get a win, as the Grizzlies took a 3-1 loss at Wilmington.
The Grizzlies (1-5-1) managed just two shots on the night to the Quakers' 27, but both were on target and one found the back of the net. With the team trailing 2-0,
Amirah Curry tallied her first goal of the season late in the 39th minute, cashing in on a feed from
Alaina Kellerman.
Netting the equalizer, though, proved elusive, and Wilmington got an insurance goal from Jordan Snyder in the 62nd minute. Franklin got a shot on goal from
Madison Hill with 6:14 remaining but couldn't break through.
Franklin goalkeeper
Emma Watson made nine saves in a losing effort.
On Saturday, the Grizzlies will open HCAC play when they travel to Hanover for a 1 p.m. rivalry match.
