RECAP | Grizzlies' Tournament Run Comes to an End Against Pioneers

KOKOMO, Ind. – The Franklin College baseball team took part in the first elimination game of the 2025 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament, facing off against fourth-seeded Transylvania with both teams putting their conference tournament lives on the line.

Franklin (21-20) saw their season come to a close at the Pioneers' (21-20) hands, with Transylvania jumping out to an early lead and hanging on for a 10-3 win.

The Grizzlies would not get on the board until the seventh inning. Garrett DeHart singled to left to bring in Nic Deering. Ian Nuckles would drive out to right field, scoring DeHart and Josh Girvan for a two-RBI at-bat. That would be the only time Franklin brought in runs as they hit a drought until the end of the game. 

Girvan led the team in hits, snagging four, while tagging on four stolen bases and scoring a run of his own. Leading in RBIs was Nuckles, claiming two for himself. 

Cameron Manuel (5-1) got the start and went one innings on the mound before switching with Luke Harmon. Harmon would pitch six innings, giving up five hits and three runs. Will Butts came in and pitched a part of an inning, allowing five hits and three runs. closed out the final five innings, giving up three hits and recording four strikeouts. Michael Carter finished out the game, getting the last out to end the competition.
