RECAP | Tennis Teams Celebrate Senior Day on Saturday Afternoon

FRANKLIN – The Franklin College tennis teams honored their six student-athletes playing at home for the final time with senior day ceremonies before Saturday's (Apr. 26) matches with the Earlham Quakers.

Seniors Dustin Garrison, Nathan Jarboe, Owen Pickerill, Sydney Carson, Lucas Densford and Ezra Schwier were all recognized for their hard work and effort during their time as Grizzlies. When the action on the court concluded for the day, the Grizzly men earned a big 4-3 win while the Franklin women dropped a 5-2 decision to the Quakers.

Men's Results: Franklin 4 – Earlham 3
The Grizzlies laid claim to an early lead by winning the critical doubles point. Jarboe and Shay Kyser took a hard-fought 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles with Densford and Marcus Cox cruising to a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

Singles play saw Clark Hersam claim Franklin's first win with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. Jaden Wells put the Grizzlies a point away from victory with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. Pickerill sealed the victory in dramatic fashion, rallying from a set down at No. 4 singles to earn a 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 win and snap a lengthy losing streak for the Grizzlies.

Women's Results: Earlham 5 – Franklin 2
Tandem play saw Franklin sweep all three matches, starting with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles from Carson and Ailyn Hendricks. Brenna Atchison and Sofie Ballesteros teamed up for a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles and the team of Mattie Foster and Emma Sappenfield held on for a 7-5 win at the third position.
