ELSAH, Ill. – The Franklin men's tennis team hit the road for two matches in Illinois on Friday and Saturday (Mar. 7-8), taking on Greenville and Principia.
The Grizzlies (5-6) remained in search of their first win this spring, falling 6-1 to Greenville (9-3) on Friday and 5-2 to Principia (5-1) on Saturday.
In the weekend's opening match, Franklin got their point from doubles play, with
Dustin Garrison and
Ezra Schwier winning 6-2 at the No. 1 position while
Nathan Jarboe and
Shay Kyser were 6-3 winners at No. 3 doubles. But the success wouldn't carry over to singles play, with the Panthers sweeping all six head-to-head matches.
Kyser and Jarboe won their doubles match with Principia, taking a 6-1 decision to complete a perfect weekend as a pair. The Grizzlies got their two points against the Panthers in singles play, with
Clark Hersam taking a 6-0, 3-6, 12-10 thriller at No. 5 singles and
Owen Pickerill claiming a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
