FRANKLIN – The Franklin men's tennis team welcomed the Berea Mountaineers to Grizzly Park for the first time as conference opponents, with the two teams meeting on Saturday (Mar. 15) morning.
The Grizzlies (6-6, 2-1 HCAC) got their first win of the calendar year, getting their match in ahead of the rain and taking a 5-0 decision from the Mountaineers.
Franklin was perfect in the five singles matches that finished, with the Grizzlies conceding just five points in those six matchups.
Nathan Jarboe was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles and
Jaden Wells took a 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 4 singles.
Dustin Garrison,
Marcus Cox and
Clark Hersam made quick work of their singles matches, with each winning 6-0, 6-0 at the second, third and fifth spots in the singles lineup.
Owen Pickerill held a 6-1 lead at No. 6 singles before the match was called. Doubles play was not contested.
The Grizzlies hit the road on Thursday (Mar. 20) for another conference match, when they face the Hanover Panthers. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
